About Board-on-Board Fencing

A board-on-board fence consists of vertical boards installed on both sides of the rails with a small gap between them. This creates a fence that provides privacy while allowing some air flow. The boards on the opposite side are offset to cover the gaps between boards on the front side.

Calculation Method

The calculator determines:

  • Boards needed: Based on fence height, board width, and spacing
  • Posts needed: Based on fence length and post spacing
  • Rails needed: Typically 2 rails per section between posts

The calculation adds 10% to all material estimates to account for waste and cutting.
